London has long been at the center of the accommodation world, with hotels rivaling all of the other major cities on the planet. With hotels to cater for every single type of person, there really is something for everyone when it comes to this cultural, yet vibrant, metropolis.

There are a huge amount of budget hotels in the capital of the United Kingdom, but the hotels that are most famous are the grand and historic ones, which have often been entertaining the rich and famous for many centuries. Each has its own different positive aspects, although a stay in any of them will be a night to remember.

Brown’s Hotel

Brown’s Hotel dates back to the mid-1800s and is situated in Mayfair – the most opulent and stylish area of the whole of the capital. It’s comprised of 117 different rooms, 29 of which are suites. The hotel is of average size although the rooms are spread over 5 floors of one of the most authentically Victorian buildings in the whole of London.

The undoubted centerpiece of this hotel is the high quality of food and drink that can be sampled in one of three different locations. There is The Albemarle, which is an A La Carte restaurant serving traditional English cuisine, as well as Brown’s English Tea Room, which is open for snacks and coffees. The final location is the Donovan Bar, which serves more than 60 different cocktails, as well as some of the most expensive champagnes in the world.

Famous visitors to this hotel include Rudyard Kipling and Agatha Christie – two icons of the literary world.

Ritz Hotel

This is perhaps the most iconic hotel in all of London, if not the world. Situated in Piccadilly and offering spectacular views across the London parkland, this is the ultimate in decadence for any tourist to the area.

Opened in 1906, The Ritz still displays all of the character and charm that it had during its early years. Built to resemble Parisian buildings although now certainly a symbol of London. This spot has played host to some of the most powerful people the world has ever seen including Charles de Gaulle, Winston Churchill and even members of the British royal family.

The most famous part of The Ritz is undoubtedly the Palm Court, which is the location where visitors can sit to have their tea at The Ritz – a long rooted tradition among visitors to the UK’s capital city. For those with a more daring side, there is even a casino in the basement, where various high rollers go to gamble their money in huge quantities.

Savoy Hotel

Aside from The Ritz, The Savoy Hotel is without doubt the most famous hotel in London. With a huge entrance that is usually flanked on both sides by Bentleys and Rolls-Royces, this is the epitome of English accommodations — classy, exclusive and very expensive!

The hotel has 268 rooms, although the majority of the time these are booked up well in advance. There are spectacular views over London from the top floors, with visitors able to look over the Thames and beyond.

Celebrities and royalty regularly stay in this location, with some notable guests being Babe Ruth, John Wayne, Edward VII and Elton John. While there, they were able to enjoy the two restaurants, both of which serve some of the most delightful food that the capital has to offer.
